Over 80 million people stutter across the world, including 5% of all children. Young people who stutter often face daily ridicule, teasing, and bullying. Many will silence themselves out of fear and embarrassment, and withdraw from peers, teachers, and society, leaving them feeling isolated and alone. And without a voice.
SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young is a leading national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting young people who stutter and their families. Through summer camps, regional day camps, speech therapy, and creative arts programming, SAY fosters a community of acceptance, friendship, and encouragement where kids and teens who stutter can build the confidence and communication skills they need to thrive.
SAY offers in-person programs in NYC, D.C., and online, serving the global stuttering community. SAY provides sliding scale rates for Camp SAY and SAY: Speech, while all other programs are offered completely free of charge. Additionally, SAY hosts a monthly support group for parents and caregivers, creating a fun and safe space for them to learn, grow, and support their children as allies.
To date, no child has ever been turned away from SAY’s programs due to financial limitations. Visit say.org/programs to learn more.
